About Us.....
Quail Ridge Rabbitry is small herd of Jersey Wooly rabbits and a few Himalayans managed by 4-H'ers Ava & Bettina with a large amount of support by their 4-H rabbit leader as well as their mom and little brother, Alessandro. We compete on a local, regional, state and even a national level with our show rabbits and in knowledge-based competitions like Rabbit Royalty, Rabbit Bowl and Showmanship.
Because Jersey Woolies naturally have a calm, easy-going temperament, they are our favorite child-friendly breed and are a great choice for rabbit owners who want a cuddly pet. We belong to a multitude of rabbit groups and believe in humane and loving treatment of our animals.
There's a big difference between small and large breeders....and it usually isn't the quality of the stock! We buy and breed the best stock and, because we are small, our rabbits get a lot of individualized attention. Unlike some commercial breeders, our rabbits are handled frequently and usually get daily outdoor exercise in large exercise pens where they can dig, forage and leap in delight. All rabbits, juniors as well as seniors, are handled daily and groomed in a way that protects their coats. We don't allow our rabbits to stay matted or felted.
Our rabbits are fed a good protein pellet mix (with at least 16% protein and at least 18% fiber) with oats and black oil sunflower seeds added for that special conditioning for their woolly coats. They are given timothy hay and veggie treats of kale, fruits and veggies and are supplemented with Oxy-Gen.
We actively show our rabbits in ABRA shows and attend between 15-20 shows a year. Since we aim to promote well-tempered and adjusted stock, we socialize our rabbits often, bringing them to schools, senior facilities, homeless shelters, Girl Scout meetings and petting zoos so they are an ideal rabbit for children and for 4-H youths.
We are located in the East Bay Area outside of San Francisco, CA.
